A Combined Mid-IR/Near-IR Spectrometer

چکیده

When analysts are faced with the decision of selecting either mid-IR (MIR) or near-IR (NIR) spectroscopy for materials characterization, the decision is usually based on the analytical, sampling, and/ or operational needs. For example, when the greatest analytical specificity is required or certain inorganic materials need to be measured, the choice favors MIR; whereas the need to keep an unstable or dangerous material inside a sealed glass container during measurement might suggest NIR as the preferred choice. In practice, MIR is available in most analytical laboratories, but the use of NIR is growing faster, especially in the quality control environment. For most materials, the analytical requirement is satisfied by both mid-IR and near-IR.

Selection of the NIR region for a regression model of the ethanol concentration in fermentation process by an online NIR and mid-IR dual-region spectrometer and 2D heterospectral correlation spectroscopy.

A new selection procedure of an informative near-infrared (NIR) region for regression model building is proposed that uses an online NIR/mid-infrared (mid-IR) dual-region spectrometer in conjunction with two-dimensional (2D) NIR/mid-IR heterospectral correlation spectroscopy. In this procedure, both NIR and mid-IR spectra of a liquid sample are acquired sequentially during a reaction process u...

Frequency-comb-based absolute frequency measurements in the mid-infrared with a difference-frequency spectrometer.

We demonstrate the possibility of extending the well-established metrological performance of optical frequency-comb synthesizers to the mid-IR region by phase locking the pump and signal lasers of a difference-frequency source to two near-IR teeth of an optical comb. An uncertainty of 800 Hz (1.1 x 10(-11)) in the absolute frequencies of CO2 transitions near 4.2 microm has been measured by cavi...

The WISE properties of complete samples of radio-loud AGN

We present an analysis of four complete samples of radio-loud AGN (3CRR, 2Jy, 6CE and 7CE) using nearand mid-IR data taken by the Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE). The combined sample consists of 79 quasars and 273 radio galaxies, and covers a redshift range 0.003 < z < 3.395. The dichotomy in the mid-IR properties of lowand highexcitation radio galaxies (LERGs HERGs) is analysed for ...

Mid-infrared spectrometer using opto-nanofluidic slot-waveguide for label-free on-chip chemical sensing.

A mid-infrared (mid-IR) spectrometer for label-free on-chip chemical sensing was developed using an engineered nanofluidic channel consisting of a Si-liquid-Si slot-structure. Utilizing the large refractive index contrast (Δn ∼ 2) between the liquid core of the waveguide and the Si cladding, a broadband mid-IR lightwave can be efficiently guided and confined within a nanofluidic capillary (≤100...

Ultra-broadband sum-frequency vibrational spectrometer of aqueous interfaces based on a non-collinear optical parametric amplifier.

We describe an ultrabroadband IR-visible sum-frequency (SF) setup that allows simultaneous acquisition of the entire vibrational spectrum of water molecules at mineral surfaces in the OH stretching region without ever tuning the IR laser pulses. Our newly developed 800-nm pumped noncollinear optical parametric amplifier (NOPA) generates broadband mid-IR pulses (~1800-3500 nm, or ~2900 - 6000 cm...
